Number 20, and a pairing that has stacked world titles on repeat: Serafino Barlesi and Francesco Calò step aboard the Prologue of the 9th Venezia-Montecarlo.
Two world champions in one cockpit
This season alone Barlesi and Calò won the 3-D world championship together and the overall title at the Centomiglia del Lario, the Como marathon that is the proving ground of endurance powerboating in Italy. Barlesi is one of the longest-running pilots on the world stage, with a record counted in titles, not seasons.
A Buzzi built for the raid
The hull is a 40-foot Buzzi rib, powered by two Seateks of 820 horsepower each: the signature of Fabio Buzzi, the engineer who dominated the historic early editions of the Venezia-Montecarlo with his turbodiesels. A choice made by people who know the distance, and know that over the long haul the winner is whoever doesn’t break.
