Press release of the Organizing Committee
Entries extended: the Organizing Committee accepts the requests from shipyards and teams.
The Venezia-Montecarlo’s return lit an enthusiasm the calendar hadn’t planned for. Faced with requests from shipyards and teams racing to finish their boats for the 20-23 July 2023 Prologue, the Organizing Committee revised the deadlines.
The new entry dates
- Pre-registration closes: 31 May
- Final entry deadline: postponed to 24 June
An extension that captures the race’s health: more hulls under construction than expected, more crews set on being there, in Italy and abroad.
Why it matters
Moving the entry deadline isn’t paperwork: it’s the signal that the “Dakar of the sea” was drawing the best of offshore powerboating back after years of standstill. The Prologue startlist would go on to count nine crews, seven Italian, one British and one German, for the dress rehearsal of the full voyage from Venice to Monte Carlo.
Every entry that answered the call is in the stories from the Prologue; the routes, history and 1990 → 2023 roll of honour on the The Race page.
